The school was built by the L N W Railway Co in 1901/2 and was enlarged in 1911. It was originally mixed and infants of about 1,120 pupils. A joint committee of Crewe day school managers administered it from 1902. The school closed in 1979 and the pupils were transferred to the new Ruskin County High School
